Jet-setting for the week

We are about to embark on a week-long trip visiting a variety of places…starting in Brooklyn then heading to Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic) and finishing up in Chicago.  NY will be a quick overnight stay, the only direct flight to DR went through NY so we took advantage and booked an overnight layover.  I know, the decision to spend our time in Brooklyn as opposed to Manhattan may seem a bit strange to most.  About a year ago RG and I were going to move to Big Apple and we had decided to live in Brooklyn, sight unseen. I have traveled up there a lot, have family in Queens and Long Island, and absolutely love Manhattan, but when you look at cost to live versus space Brooklyn offers more.  At least that’s what I hear.  Although our plans have changed – after both finding new jobs in Atlanta – we want to see what we may have missed out on.

From Brooklyn we head to Puerto Plata to meet up with RG’s family to celebrate my father-in-law’s birthday Caribbean style!  The week here should be sun-filled and relaxing…I’m sure I will taste test the Dominican Rum a bit too.

After a week on the beaches we leave RG’s family and head to Chicago to meet mine.  My cousin is tying the knot and I can’t wait to help them celebrate. We will have one night in the city and then head down south for the wedding.  I will have so much to fill you all in on when I get back. I probably will not have much internet access in the DR, so if you don’t hear from me over the next week…I am sorry but I will have a fruity cocktail for you and say hello as soon as I return!  Until then…Hasta Luego, ¡Salud!
