Leaving on a jet plane

Hello!  I have been such a slacker lately when it comes to blogging…my apologies!  But I am back and I have so much to share. The past month has been a whirlwind…we have traveled through Malaysia, island hopped in the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea, spent some time in Bangkok and showed some dear friends around Thailand.  As I write this now I am sitting in Atlanta Georgia, sipping on coffee, and trying to comprehend that I just flew across the world and am back in the United States. Did the past six and a half months really happen or did I dream it all?

I won’t lie, it was difficult to pack up everything and board that plane yesterday.  Thailand welcomed us with open arms, became our home and forever changed my perception of the world. We met some amazing people from around the world, visited places I never knew existed, went without electricity at times, and slept in more beds than I can count. I have learned so much about myself in this time and will hold these memories close to my heart.  While it has been less than a day since we stepped onto US soil the best way to describe coming home is…after spending so long in a foreign country it becomes familiar and comfortable, coming home is also familiar but feels like being in another foreign country.

Heading home
Heading home…

Many of our friends and family were not aware that we were coming home yesterday.  And those that did have an idea have been asking many questions…”Are you home for good?” “Are you going back to Thailand?” “Are you traveling to a different country now?” “If you are home where are you going to live?” …to be honest the answer to all of those questions is “I don’t know.”  We are going to take our time, enjoy the next couple of weeks with friends and family, celebrate a wedding, look at the job markets and play with our dog. I am so glad we made the decision to go abroad and I encourage anyone with the means and the desire to take the plunge and board that first plane.

Stay tuned…I promise to share stories and photos from the past month and to document the new journey that is about to begin.
